However, many people also know that if they're not on an educational or business licence for this software then they really shouldn't be using it. There are many people out there using pirated copies of Microsoft Office and if you're one of them, and you lose your product key, then you might think that your copy of Office is useless. However, when the product key is lost the software still works but it is in a trial mode with limited functionality. There are a couple of things that can be done in order to fix the problem and get back into full working mode. The first thing that can be done to fix this problem is to simply re-enter the product key. This can be done by going into MS Word 2010 and clicking on ‘Help’ followed by 'About'. Within the ‘About’ window there is a tab called ‘Registration’. This will show the expiry date for your product key which will be stated to be, in real time, on the day of writing this article. The second option that can be done is to purchase a new product key. You can do this by going to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/Office365Accounts/HomePage and clicking on ‘Microsoft Office for PC’ followed by ‘Ordering’ at the top left of the page. Then, select the appropriate option of how you want to pay for the key. It is important to note that if you do this, you will have a valid product key but the same expiration date as your original product key. Over time your computer will be shown as being out of date and a reminder to activate will pop up from time to time. This can be gotten rid of by going into ‘Control Panel\\System and Security\\Action Center’ and then clicking on ‘Change Product Key’. You can then type in your new product key there and it should be activated. Of course, this is only one of the more reliable options. If you don't want to do these things then there's no need for you to worry. Because, even if the product key is lost, the same functionality and features of Office 2010 are still available. You can still view documents and perform calculations on spreadsheets and present your findings in PowerPoint presentations.
